Growing up hotot :-)

Oh what a tough job it is to be a baby hotot around here...posing practice, pictures, daily hugs and kisses....;-) We are really loving our juniors right now and I hope we have enough showable ones to show this summer as these guys will be seniors by then. Lots of new babies born over the past four days, 16 new ones! A few of those won't be showable and then 3 sports won't be either but the good news is that out of those babies 7 are XEO babies, the last sired from him. Hopefully there will be a nice little buck in that bunch. On to the pictures!

Lucy's last litter with me, she sure has been a fantastic mom for us!

My favorite little buck so far, he is just perfect ;-) Bruce will pose and keep it too, a trait that is priceless!

Sinking into my hand....

Edith, she will make a good brood doe :-)

Another little buck, Ike....he isn't showable due to a spot on his back but that's alright he can stay a little while as he is an XEO son.
Ahh...Dixie's litter...so thankful the Lord woke me up last night at 2:30am...I never wake up that early!! So since I was up I turned on the cam and she was acting weird. I saw her jump in the box and she stayed a good while. When she came out I went to the barn and what do you know, cold newborn babies with no hair put on them. She had pulled her hair and packed it at the front of the box and kindled the babies in the back of the box. There was no way they would have stayed warm until morning. So glad I was awoken to go save them. Now the hair is on them and they're all 3 nice and snug. Thank you Lord!

I am so blessed!

Today has been one of the best days in a while, I am so grateful for the wonderful friends I have! I know I haven't posted in a while, we have just been incredibly busy but I will do some catching up on baby news tomorrow. For now it feels great to have two empty cages and was able to bless two other Texas breeders with new stock. Seven new bunnies were given to help them to continue to build their herds. I know they will do just as well for them as they have me. I can't wait to see baby pictures of their litters in another month or so! While it was such a blessing to see them go to great people, I also received an unbelievable blessing. Today, the doorbell rang and the postal service lady stood there apologizing that my package was damaged and I had to sign saying I was accepting it like that. While I quickly told her not to worry, I didn't even know who it was from because I didn't recall ordering anything. Well....much to my surprise, it was from my friend Timothy Chan in Malaysia!! A gorgeous painting by the famous Simon Chan of my herd buck, Percy's XEO, done a couple of years ago. He still had the painting! And now I am so honored to have it. What a blessing!!!

totally ripped apart...
Yikes! hard to believe a gorgeous painting was protected in all that but it sure was! Not even a scratch!
Gorgeous painting of my XEO :-)

Oh but that's not all, God is a giver and loves to bless! I received an email tonight from my friend Emily Housman, who is the sweetest young lady, that she wanted to give me one of her does that I have admired as she has made the hard decision to sell out. I am so grateful Emily, thank you so very much for allowing me to own this doe. :-)
Isn't she lovely?!
Words to live by! :-) Have a blessed Sunday everyone!

Updates

Well not too much to update, just have a lot of growing babies ready to go to their new homes soon! Out of the 25 babies born last month it looks like only 5 will stay to grow out. I sure hope I have a nice little buck born soon! I sure need some nice boys. I'm getting some lovely girls and average fellas.  Patience, patience.

My new herd buck maybe? Would love a son who is a little fuller in that lower HQ with shorter ears. :-)
302, just lacks the head :-)
Maddie is busy nesting this morning!
Babies heading out west next week!

More babies in the overflow cage, waiting to leave for their homes out west!

Growing up!

As the juniors start to emerge, there are some promising babies coming up. Most of my boys look like they will be big and the little does are small and typey....why is that? I wish it were the other way around really. Ah well, I take what I can get. :-)

Now to the pictures!...
A Simon son, probably my favorite but will likely live in Ohio in May. Hope to breed him before then.

Depth! Yes please!

This little sport doe is Izzy, I don't normally name them this young because if they get a name, they stay :) I can just tell this doe will be nice, real nice.

I love her back spot! So short in body!

Merci's daughter....and her foster mom in the background

JLO babies! Both keepers for now

Kendall...reminds me soooo much of my XEO boy...miss him.

Lanee and Darci...up to no good.

TJ's litter all snug for the night :-)

Bunny pick-up weekend!

Wow!  What a fun weekend it has been so far! I had one very nice youth come over today and we talked about type, faults, DQs, how to palpate, clip nails, check teeth/gender, looked at babies and even did some tattoo'ing! Whew. After all that, she was very excited to bring her girls home. :-) I think it is safe to say that Texas has a new Dwarf Hotot breeder now. Enjoy them Kaci!

Some goodies that were sent(except the guidebook-she plans to join the ADHRC soon!)

And to end with a quote I love...

Will try to take baby pictures tomorrow! I'm so far behind!

Feed and updates!

Sorry for the lack of posts lately, I guess I need to start up some informational posts again. If you have any suggestions, feel free to comment and let me know. I need ideas!

Anyhow, not much going on other than rearing babies and finally getting my feed issue sorted out..I think. :-) So here's my review on the Sherwood...it looks and smells amazing!! Made fresh and delivered to my door, definitely no complaints from me...the bunnies on the other hand begged to differ. The very first time I put it in their feeders they sniffed and hopped back, almost repulsed I guess. So I left it in there and by noon nothing was eaten and they were all gnawing on the wire as if they were going to starve to death. Silly bunnies. So I dumped it out and gave the pen pals feed which they cleaned up quickly. Next morning I mixed the feed with just a little bit of Sherwood...you know what they did? Started scratching the feed out and picking out the pen pals. UGH! So I didn't bother after that...now the polish are eating it until I run out since I paid a pretty penny for the feed. The babies.....at first liked the Lactating/Growing Sherwood feed but when I set a crock of pen pals only out for them it was devoured and they became picky. So much so they won't even eat the Sherwood now. Oiy! I'm forcing my pet babies to eat it, until its gone and I'm sending it with them when they leave here. I don't know why they don't like it, it really does look like a great feed. I did noticed it was a lot heavier, almost sticky like Alfalfa hay can be...you can feel that is has a lot more fat content than my Pen pals! Now that I think I have a reliable pen pals dealer again my buns will be able to have their feed without switching. whew!!

Onto bunny pictures!
Hannah's polish buck..hubba hubba... :-D

Her doe...who is for sale.
Maddie, I haven't talked about her much, she has really started looking better here lately. She is bred to my late herd buck, XEO.

Kendall....Ooo Lah Lah... :-D Never get tired of looking at this doe.

Happy New Year!

I just want to wish you all a Happy New Year! I hope it is one filled with love, blessings, and good health! I look forward to seeing what God has in store for us this year. :-)

I'm ringing in the new year with a new brand of feed....possibly, we'll see!...
**UPDATE** The rabbits refused to touch it and gnawed on the wire until I emptied the feeders and put pen pals back in it...Happy New Year to You!!...they said. :-(

oh...and new babies. :-D
