Organizing...yes, I have to.

Check lists, care sheets, packets, paperwork....now you're speaking my language. LOL I just love having everything organized to where I can relax (somewhat) when we go on a big trip.

So lets start with the packet....
My convention 'packet' includes:
  • entry confirmation printouts
  • entry number printout
  • receipts from supply purchases that need to be picked up
  • hotel reservation printout
  • itinerary for non-rabbit plans(zoo information, ect.)
  • list of rabbits going up and list of those coming back
  • contact information for all that are being dropped off and picked up
  • list of all animals to be cared for-I'm caring for other breeder's animals this time
Cage tags and business card holder
Rabbitry care sheet- this is a detailed layout of what needs to be done. I have included on the back page a table of my cage set-up so that the care taker can identify the rabbits without taking them out of the cage. I can send a copy of this to friends who are interested in modifying it to their own when you have to leave your rabbits to a caretaker. Just email me.

Just a few of the things on my checklist that I placed in a gallon sized bag.

Checklist-I can also email this to anyone who wants it.
On an ending note, we had a beautiful black banded buck (singleton) born yesterday, hoping he'll turn out nice!

Convention Countdown

It's not long now! The ARBA Convention is right around the corner and it looks like I just have ONE jr doe to show. :-( Oh well, I'm gearing up to have a competitive show team for 2014!!

Hannah and I worked on our cage tags, I love them, its hard to take a good picture of them as they are decoupaged and brushed with glitter.

Bunnies are doing well, I sure love my doe herd at the moment! These gals will be my foundation for the 2013 breeding season.

Look-a-likes

I have a little doe that is the result of a father/daughter crossing and she looks like a girl version of my buck XEO. :-) Heehee! I just love line breeding. Can't wait to see this girl as a sr doe!
Kendall (XEO x Abby(XEO daughter))

XEO....can you see the resemblance? They both have that flat nose and bug eyes.

In other news, I found out my hay had toxins in it causing necrosis in one of my babies(another breeder had this happen and the rabbit was found to have toxins in its system but the others were unaffected). This little guy had purple ears for a couple of days and then today it has started to rot at the tips. :-( So sad, but the others seem to be fine. Ugh.

**update** After doing research of my own, I truly believe this little guy has an auto-immune disorder called 'cold-agglutinin disease'. His symptoms are the exact same. It's very rare but can occur in rabbits. Here's some more info: http://www.petmd.com/cat/conditions/cardiovascular/c_ct_cold_agglutinin_disease#.UHl64IZ7R8E

Peaches

Yes, that's the name of my newest upcoming jr doe. LOL I just thought she was the most adorable thing as a kit. Since she was a singleton, she was always fat and fuzzy! Like a peach. She's definitely one to watch....I Love her already! Look at that depth! Will probably be one of my main brood does here in a few months.

Her mom

Daddy...a chunk! He's got to loose some weight
On another note....Martin was bred to two does. I'm hoping to get some babies out of him before he leaves. :-)

Martin...going to live in Iowa here in a few weeks!

Abby was bred to Martin as well as Lucy below. Fingers crossed!

Convention purchases

I'm sooo excited about my new bunnies coming...I'm getting WAY more than I anticipated but that's only because I'm trading with a couple of breeders.

Here's some new faces that I'll get to see next month :-)

AND.....drum roll.....we're getting a new breed! Welcoming Chocolate Polish to our barn. This will be Hannah's breed...she's soooo excited! Thank you Tiffany McCord and Drew Bliss!!

What a nice break...

I'm baaaack....now that wasn't long was it? ;-) I needed the break from rabbits and just everything online in general. A Lot has happened in 3 weeks, the biggest change is that I have a new job now...my last job ended in 2010 so I am so glad to be back at work now! Its actually a total career change, I am a Reg. Nurse and have my degree in Nursing but now I am a 1st Grade teacher asst. for 5 teachers and I do reading instruction for those classes. Oh I LOVE it. I'm just so much happier now, it was starting to get very depressing being unemployed... So anyway, enough about that...lets talk bunnies!

I've been mulling over how to get a bigger barn but was overwhelmed by the expense of it. It was just unfeasible pretty much. So hubby said he could re-arrange and make it feel roomier. "Go for it!" I said and he even said I could add another row of cages on top of my stackers! That would make my total holes be 24...wow!

Here's a barn tour taken today

More posts to come about the updates, just wanted to leave you with some of our lovely ladies!! All 4King's does (except for the last one, its a buck).
