Last post for now...

For those of you who saw the post yesterday before it was deleted, I apologize for venting my frustrations. I really appreciated the sweet comments, both on the post and in email. Today is a new day but I still feel that I need to take a step back and re-evaluate things. I just got a new job and I think that will help lessen my involvement in rabbits which has started to take too much of my time. It's not that I have too many rabbits to care for, but that getting wrapped up in the groups/breed clubs/ in-and-outs of who's who and what's for sale....its just Not that important. Rabbits are a hobby and I'm not going to make it my life like I have been. So after re-setting my priorities I plan to take a leave of absence from the blog and just keep the website updated. Plan to lessen the shows and just enjoy the buns with my kids. Maybe next year I can re-start the blog, I don't know, we'll just have to give it some time. Love you all!

Decisions, decisions...

I'm kinda in a slump with my herd at the moment. It seems not much is going the way I want it to. I've sold a LOT of bunnies recently and now I'm left with a handful. I think my numbers will be the lowest its been in a long while after next weekend when I do my last bunny drop(other than convention). I just don't know why I'm in such a blah with them lately, its not that I want to sell out, its just that I kinda want to be reclusive for a while.

Here's what I'm thinking:
  •  Stop breeding for a month or two, may pick back up after Convention.
  • No shows...I'm thinking I just want to do our local club's show once a year and just aim for the national competitions only
  • Limited sales, I just don't want to deal with it anymore...I have a gorgeous rabbit, sell it and before delivering the bun, something happens and I have to tell the owners, its heartbreaking...sales are stressful for me-so much can happen in more ways than one. This morning I lost a very nice doe that was going to a new breeder and it was just devastating.
Perfect body on this doe, she just lacks the head to go with it. ;-)
On the bright side, here are my lovely babies growing and doing well...

Crazy Busy

Well its been a crazy past few days! Babies have grown, some have opened their eyes and others are now out of the nestbox. What has really been exciting is the buzz of convention sale bunnies! As of now I may be coming home with 4 or 5 new rabbits. *Yikes* Its not even October yet....shopping for bunnies is a bit addicting so good thing I am trading babies for them all so I will have the space!

Here's Lucy's babies! Hannah was taking videos of them yesterday. :-) Looks like I have a future brood doe in the bunch!

My goofy girl and one of the babies!

LOL, she made a funny face...now I see why, look close, one is peeing!
Some of my babies that are leaving me....hope they do well for their new owners!

What a bummer day...

Well it looks like I won't have hardly anything to show at convention. My juniors just didn't turn out like I thought they would. Bummer. The most disappointing thing is that I learned one If my does carries malocclusion as she has passed this on in her last 2 litters. Ugh :-( So that line will have to be culled. Sorry for the lack of photos in this post....just a bit bummed.

A/C cleaning overdue!

Well when I woke up this morning I had no idea that I would be knocking out my A/C to give it a good clean. Wow did it need it! My only regret is not doing this sooner. For a while now, it hasn't been keeping the barn as cool as it should. Now it's like new! While we worked on the A/C for about 3 hours the buns had to be moved inside. Oh what a chore that was!! I only have 12 carriers and 25 buns? I lost count...

That's Lady in the middle, she's begging for pats.

Princess Holly had a bathtub to herself!

Nothing should be black on this unit, its all white, even the fan....THAT's how DIRTY it was! I am really surprised I don't have respiratory issues in my buns, the mold made me sick just cleaning it.
Now, I'm totally worn out....off to bed for me...........Goodnight all!

My first Blue banded baby!

Hmm....what a surprise! I had no idea my doe carried blue bands! The daddy is out of a blue banded doe so half of his pedigrees are blues. The mother, 4King's Holly is from two lines that are just blacks. So somewhere way back when, there must have been a crossing to a blue banded bun. Of course this little blue banded doe happens to be the nicer one of the two as she is smaller, shorter, wider, has shorter ears and thicker ears too. LOL Oh well, I plan to breed her to an unrelated black buck to have black banded babies.

Going on a baby break, 2 down, 1 to go!

Well the last of the summer litters are being born, two of my homebred does kindled today...both were horrible first time moms so I'm praying they get it right this time! So far, so good! I haven't been able to check genders, let alone markings as they are all on edge at the moment and trying to figure out how to mother these kits. But it looks like Abby had 4 banded and Jennie had 2 banded. One more to go! Chloe is due on the 15th and that's it for the fall. Hoping to breed again in December for some babies to show next summer.

On a sad note, I lost one of the little sport does this morning. She got out of the nestbox and hung herself as she was trying to climb out of the cage. It was a horrible sight. :-( Ugh. These pictures were taken yesterday.

RIP Izzy....:-(
Looks like I will only have one sport girl to love one for a while....
Gypsy, she is all head it seems!
