Learning to palpate is a great skill for any rabbit breeder to learn. By reducing the time between misses, you are likely to increase herd production.
If nothing else, palpate a buck and then your bred doe and see if you can feel the babies inside. That was how I learned to recognize what was a fetus and what wasn't. :-) The red stuff I'm showing is playdoh. Aviva was such a good girl...

Great video! What a difference it makes to actually see someone do this. Make more please :)
Thanks! I probably didn't cover everything about palpating because I did it on a whim. Hubby was hungry and said "you've got one shot, go"-lol Any topics/anything you'd want to see a video of? I thought of doing posing or more in depth on tatooing-using the pen and clamp. Other than that, I can't think of anything else.
Thank you!!! I was showed how to do this, but it was not this good. I've been trying to palpate, and my husband can kind of do it (he used to work with pregnant dogs at a guide dogs facility). I think I'm going to pull some of mine out and feel them.
Thank you for a great video! Very helpful to people like me that struggle with this skill.
This was awesome Lindsey!!! Thanks SO much! I can't wait to try that. It really helps to actually see someone do it. I'll let you know how it goes! =) Thanks again!
Thanks for making this!! Where exactly do you put your thumb and pointer finger? :)
Thanks gals! Lanae, you sorta feel along the sides, not straight down the middle but don't worry about hurting her, you really have to feel around in there to feel a fetus. But just start from either the bottom and work your way to the ribs or from behind the ribs to the bottom. Just get enough flesh, about 1.5" between your fingers.
This was excellent! I'll be referring to this video in the future when I start breeding my guys. As for other videos, I like the ideas you have and would like to see one on nail trimming and one on grooming before a show. Grooming is a lot easier with our breeds than some of the wool breeds, but I'm sure there are some things I need to do to prep them for a show (brushes you use, any sprays you might use, etc.). Thanks for taking the time to make this=)
A video on tatooing would be awesome! My rabbits would be so grateful :)
That... was beautiful. lol Very good video. :)
Hey Lindsey! I had a quick question regarding my babies... :) They are doing better today, but they are 4 weeks old today and I was told to wean at 4 weeks. I was just wondering at what age you wean at and if it will be fine weaning them now being they have been having trouble transitioning to dry food. :) Thanks! :) Happy new year. :)
