Hmm....what a surprise! I had no idea my doe carried blue bands! The daddy is out of a blue banded doe so half of his pedigrees are blues. The mother, 4King's Holly is from two lines that are just blacks. So somewhere way back when, there must have been a crossing to a blue banded bun. Of course this little blue banded doe happens to be the nicer one of the two as she is smaller, shorter, wider, has shorter ears and thicker ears too. LOL Oh well, I plan to breed her to an unrelated black buck to have black banded babies.

Just curious, why you seem to prefer the black bandeds? Blue and black are completely compatiable breeding wise, so just curious why you are going to try and breed away from the blue?
Blue bands aren't recognized as a variety yet, no one has started the COD process so it will be several years before they are even considered for acceptance. Since I have such a small rabbitry, I really need the space for showable buns. If she has good type, I will breed her and replace her with a nice black banded daughter. I like the blue though! Just wish they were a showable variety. :-)
Oh, got my varieties mixed up! It's the Choc bands that just passed then. I usually pay close attention to the COD stuff at convention. We Dutch breeders are hoping chin Dutch will pass their 3rd showing this year.
