New Outlook, New rules!

As of today, things have changed. You would think I would have learned my lesson after almost 3 years of being back in rabbits. Some things never change and are always repeated ironically.

1. I will no longer sell pets. Why? 95% of them are returned to me or ones I GIVE to someone are sold as breeding stock. I'm sorry if a reader is considering a pet from me, check with the shelters in Dallas/Fort Worth area or your local shelter to see if they have any rabbits available. Craigslist tends to have several on there too.

2. No more selling Juniors! Unless I personally know you...Sorry!! I have heard too many disappointments about either the rabbit never producing or testicles not dropping, or doesn't turn out top show quality as it looked as a junior. So over and done. No more. If I have brood stock or show stock I am done with, they will be available then. I don't need rabbit sales to support my hobby.

3. No more giving rabbits away! I am guilty of this Quite often as I throw freebies in to be Nice!! They come with pedigrees mind you...so after finding out most I gave away to certain breeders were sold without being asked if I wanted them back, I'm just not going to do it anymore.

4. No barn visits. I haven't had a bad experience per say but security is an increasing concern so for the safety of my family and rabbits. We are now a closed rabbitry.

5. All sales animals are posted on a first come, first served basis. I have a small barn so it’s very difficult to hold rabbits for more than a week or so and that means I have to cull more than I could ever sell.

Now....after my rant...smile! I can't wait to breed some of my up and coming does. They are looking great. I decided to keep my bucks and just keep going with them even though I think my lines are getting tight...its working so if it ain't broke, don't fix it right? Will wait it out a little while longer I guess.
