The babies will be evicted from their nestbox soon...I don't have the heart to take it from them yet, but it will have to be Monday at the very latest. Aviva is already carrying hay around in her mouth but that silly girl won't get her box until closer to time. I know she's going to be a fabulous mom just like her mom was. It will be like Christmas all over again for me next week!
I dumped pans in a few pots yesterday, I have been sending all my bunny gold to the trash dump(shame, shame) but I really didn't think it could be used with the pine in it. So I tried nothing in the pans yesterday so it would be straight fertilizer and I couldn't even last 24 hours. The smell was reeking and when I fed this morning I had to put papers and bedding in their pee spots. Now it smells piney fresh. :-D I'm too used to not smelling anything that when I do it bothers me...ahharg. I am still going to try composting the pine/poo for the raised bed gardens and see if it works. I really really hope so, we'd love to have a garden this year.
On another note, I found Kefla's blog post super interesting, if you have the time do check it out. Lots of neat research tid bits about handling kits at birth, conception, flooring...check it out at http://kelfla.blogspot.com/2012/01/scientific-research-tidbits.html or click HERE

I hate throwing the bunny droppings away too, because I know what a good fertilizer they are, but I worry about attracting unwanted critters if I try to compost them. I also didn't know if it would work with the pellets, but I agree that they are a necessity for keeping things smelling fresh. I hope you find that it works.
I hate throwing away the poop. I know its good for gardne but the trays I have now and metal and heavy and in order to move them to the garden I would have to carry those nasty things all the way across the yard (which is far) I need a 4 wheeler to do that. haha You could bag it and sell it or just put a pile of it somewhere and have the people come scoop up what they want and charge them a reasonable amount for it. Its good you put it in your pots. Flowers do great with it. And I'm glad you got some new cages! :) Are you just slowly expanding?
